The sun coming up behind the clouds made for a beautiful sunrise. This morning was one of the warmest so far. It was 23 degrees at 7am. You can tell it was a weekday, because there was only 6 cars in our parking lot. We went to Copper and had a bad start. After almost falling on her head putting her skis on, we were asked by the ski instructor to take one of the little kids up with us. Since we have done it before, we said OK. But as we tried to get off the lift at the top, Glenna had a problem getting off  and started to go back down. The lift operator didn’t see it and didn’t stop the lift. I was able to get off the lift with the little girl with no problems. After waiting for the ski instructor behind us and making sure the little girl was safe, I started down as fast as I could to make sure the lift operator at the bottom would stop the lift so Glenna could get off. As I got to the bottom, the lift operator stopped the lift and Glenna was able to get off.



After making sure Glenna was OK, we started back up to start our ski day. The trails have a combination of good snow, ice and bare spots. We saw the safety patrol putting up red sticks around hazards to ensure skiers don’t get injured. The temp around 1pm was already 42 degrees at the base.  Our last run has in the Union Creek bowl at the top of the mountain where the trails were very icy and the wind blew off any remaining powder. We ended our day around 2pm and returned home and enjoy a few cocktails. The weather report is now calling for 4-8 inches of snow starting Friday morning. After seeing the conditions today, we ready need it.

Well it wasn’t 3 in a row. But the clouds made the morning sunrise spectacular. It was very mild at 7am, 31 degrees. Since this was going to be our last day skiing, we made an extra effort to get first chair. And we did. The only ones a head of us was the ski patrol. The lift operators leave the “Closed” sign up until they all get on. While the skiing wasn’t as good as the last 2 days, it was OK. Only a few ice patches,   where the snow had been blown off, mainly at the higher elevations. After returning back to the condo, we finished packing and got ready to go to Arapahoe Café to again say goodbye to the bartenders there. This will be the last update because we will be leaving for home bright and early tomorrow. I hope everyone enjoyed it and hope to do it again next year.

Another Blue Bird day. With the mild temps in the afternoon, only small snow piles   remain in the parking lot and driveways. We went to Keystone to try and get first chair. However, people start lining up at 8am, ½ hour before the opening. So we settled for 6 th chair. The important thing about getting there that early is that you can ski most of the trails on groomed trails. We skied for about 2 ½ hours and then returned home to continue packing. In the evening we went to the Dam Brewery to say goodbye to our friends at the Dam. Maybe it will be 3 in a row of Blue Bird days. Lets hope so.

Today was the tale of 2 different weather days. In the morning, it was total sunshine with temps starting around 30 and rising into the low 40s. While it was a little windy, you could still go to mass in a light jacket and walk around the lake. Starting around 4pm, a weather front came through causing the temps to drop into the low 20s. Along with the front came wind driven snow for about 4 hours. Total accumulations were only 1-3 inches. You really couldn’t measure the snow because of the wind. During the mid day, we drove to Copper Mtn to check out the conditions. Because of the mild temps, it looked like Spring Conditions on the slopes. After Copper, we went to Frisco to try out a new restaurant – Prose which is located on Main St . It is a small German restaurant. Because of the weather, we left after having 1 drink each and a pretzel. We will try and return before we leave next week. Not sure what the 1-3 inches did for the conditions but we will see tomorrow.
